This unit of competency covers the functions required to operate slewing mobile crane (open/over 100 tonnes) to meet minimum training and assessment standards for the purposes of certification. This unit has been developed in accordance with the licensing and assessment requirements of NOHSC:1006 [2001].

This unit involves:

• Assessing and securing equipment and work area
• Securing and transferring load of vehicle loading cranes
• Setting up and dismantling mobile or tower cranes
• Carrying out special operations with mobile or tower cranes

To obtain your qualification, the basic procedure requires you to undertake:

• Initial training by New Horizons Safety and Training Services (usually 2-4 days but is dependant on applicant/s involved)
• Supervised hours (under a licensed operator) operating the machine. These hours must be logged into an official Log Book
• Final assessment

Logged Book hours required for full certification: 80

At the completion of the course you will receive a Workplace Health & Safety Ticket and a Statement of Attainment that is a nationally recognised qualification for this machine.
